Too Close For Comfort

When Hurricane Milton passed through Florida, the ride home from Jake's was different from most days for one of our staff members. As she drove home, she was unnerved by all the lighting. Then, she actually saw a tornado barreling ahead on 441!

By the time she reached home safely, she was hearing reports of tornados touching down all around Wellington and the surrounding areas... including one of her friend's homes. The friend had reached out through social media to confirm that her house had been hit and to assure everyone she was okay.

Another family to whom we deliver frozen food in the Acreage also had a tornado hit their home! Thankfully there was minimal damage, but power was knocked out for 5 days. A generator and lots of ice helped them make it through the outage, but they were certainly concerned about losing their month’s worth of raw frozen food. (We offered them assistance if neeed.)

Dog with thundershirt

For this family, storm preperations included giving CBD pumpkin biscuits to their dog Stella. They also put a Thundershirt on her to keep her calm, and she seemed to be ok in their safe room.

They hadn’t given anything to their cat, Mango, who kept trying to get out of the room. Following the tornado, they say they’ll put on Mango’s harness & leash ahead of any future storms.
